Sayeed Ahmed has been appointed chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
He has assumed the responsibility as the 35th BPDB chairman following the retirement of its 34th chairman Khaled Mahmood, said a press release.
Prior to his appointment as BPDB chairman, Sayeed Ahmed served as member (generation) of the concern where he successfully supervised the overall operation and maintenance of the total generation system.
Sayeed Ahmed was born in Rangpur on February 1, 1961. Before joining as BPDB member, he served as chief engineer (generation). He joined APSCL as Board of Directors on 26 December 2017.
Sayeed did his SSC from Rangpur Zilla School in 1975 and HSC from Rangpur Carmichael College in 1977 with achievement. He obtained B.Sc. Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering in 1982. He joined BPDB as assistant engineer on January 10, 1984.
Afterwards, he served in Barapukuria Coal Power Plant Project (2001-2004) and Barapukuria Power Plant (2005-2007).
In addition, he served as Director in Power Cell (2008-2013), Director System Planning (2014-2015) and Chief Engineer (Private Generation) in 2016.
Besides, the ministry of power and energy accorded farewell reception to Khaled Mahmood, who joined BPDB as chairman on August 17, 2016.
In his long demonstrative trail of career, Khaled passed several paradigms as Sub-divisional Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintendent Engineer, and Chief Engineer.
