New solar irrigation pump starts operation in Gaibandha village

A solar irrigation pump worth Tk 0.5 million was started at Pearapur village of Boali union under Sadar Upazila recently.

Boali union parishad (UP) implemented the scheme under the Local Governance Support Project (LGSP)-2 through direct supervision of local government section of DC office and the upazila administration, office sources said.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini inaugurated the pump as the chief guest.

Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said the government has been working relentlessly for the farmers to help them boost production of agri-crops through providing them necessary agri inputs and other facilities.

From now, as many as 40 farmers of the area would be able to provide irrigation water from the pump in low cost in a bid to cultivate different crops including Boro and Aman paddy on 40 bighas of land easily, she added.
