Four more solar powered easy bike charging station on the way

The Rural Electrification Board (REB) is going to establish four more solar powered charging stations for easy bikes through its different Palli Bidyut Samity (PBSs) across the country.

The stations are going to be implemented with PBSs own funding and financial aid from Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA).

On Wednesday SREDA signed an agreement with the PBSs at the IEB Bhaban in the capital.

As per the agreement, the PBSs are going to get Tk 25 lakh as financial aid from SREDA.

Within the next two months, four stations with 20-22 kilowatt capacity will be established in Mymensingh, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Comilla.

REB Chairman Major General Moin Uddin, SREDA Chairman Md Anwarul Islam, SREDA member Siddique Zobair, Power Division joint secretary Sheikh Faezul Amin attended the function.

REB Chairman Moin Uddin said that to reduce the increasing pressure on grid electricity across the country, a solar charging station has already been established in Keraniganj on experimental basis. That station is serving 22 easy bikes on average per day.

As a continuation of this effort, four more stations are going to be established, he informed. He also said that three more stations will be established very soon.

Md Anwarul Islam, Chairman of SREDA said that they are happy to stand beside the effort of promoting renewable energy.

He said that to establish solar charging station, priority should be given to places where proper sunlight is available.
