‘Power, energy ministry to be paperless by 3 years’

State minister for Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Saturday said that his ministry has been working hard for digitalising the power and energy sector.

Answering the questions of the journalists during a "Meet the press" organised by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Nasrul said that his ministry will soon become paperless.

Nasrul informed that they are planning to install enterprise resource planning (ERP) software in all of the offices of the power sector to make process completely digitalised. So, the offices in this sector will be paperless within the next three years.

“A world renowned consultant is working in this field to implement it," he said.

He said the government targeted to install two crore of prepaid meters in the country and 10 lakh in the capital city, adding, “We are going to introduce smart meter to make the power sector hassle free,”

“The government under the bold and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to provide uninterrupted electricity at a fair price,” Nasrul added.
