Human chain for the speedy implementation of Rampal power plant

The local people in Rampal, Bagerhat have conducted a human chain on Thursday to press demand for implementing 1,320 MW coal based power plant.

Under the banner, Dakkhinanchol Unnayan Parishad, the human chain was conducted at the highway of Khulna-Mongla. Local lawmaker and Awami Leage leader Talukder Abdul Khaleq led the human chain.

The participants at the human chain asked for speedy implementation of the plant. They said that if the plant is implemented then it will help to foster socio-economic development in the region. They said that the implementation of the plant will not harm Sundarban.

Meanwhile, the National Committee to protect oil, gas, mineral resources, power and port observed half day hartal in Dhaka.

The power plant project, a joint venture by India and Bangladesh, will come up at Rampal in Bagerhat.
