Govt appoints a new chairman and three new members for BERC

The government has appointed a new chairman and three new members for the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC).

Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) on Wednesday issued a circular regarding these new appointments.

Monowar Islam, the immediate past secretary of the Power Division was appointed as the new chairman.

As the new members, former chief engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board Md Mizanur Rahman, former managing director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd Md Abdul Aziz Khan and former additional secretary Md Mahmudul Haq Bhuiyah were appointed.

As per the condition of the appointment, the new chairman and the members cannot engaged in any businesses related with power and energy sector.
